Gravel path with the first Fern Border on the left and a hedge on the right.
In 1955, the first Fern Border was created against the north facing side of the Duck Run wall. This would later become the site of the canal.
Herbaceous Borders (colour/white) with white seat at end of path and a hedge behind, washing line post to side.
The White Garden was inspired by Kiftsgate in Gloucestershire. Eventually the white planting was extended to both sides of the path.
Sybil weeding in the Alley with the sundial and curved wooden seat behind her, beech hedges to either side.
The Alley, which leads from the Summerhouse to the end of the White Garden was modelled on one at Hidcote.
