Victorian style metal gate between the Orchard Garden and the Pinetum.
The gate was designed by Robin Spencer, based on a screen in the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Wrought iron Circle Gate at the entrance to the Paved Garden (now at the entrance to the Pinetum)
Robin designed this gate which was based on a screen in the Victoria and Albert Museum, but wasn't happy with it here and took it down.

The design was based on a screen in the Victoria and Albert Museum, and was made for Robin by his blacksmith F. Landon.
Letter from F Landon (Blacksmith) concerning the design for Robin's gate which accompanied a drawing on tracing paper (YGA00942). The letter aalso refers to a sketch of a latch and keep which is not present.
